Our Leadership

Karl Zimmerman, CEO

Prior to selling his company to Energy IQ in 2010, Mr. Zimmerman was the founder and President of Intercon Systems, a leader in the design and installation of energy management and building controls technologies. Before founding Intercon, he was Vice President of Integrated Building Technologies, Inc (“IBT”), a large regional engineering and mechanical contracting firm, where he managed the low voltage division for energy management, security and fire alarm systems. Prior to joining IBT, Mr. Zimmerman was Director of Facilities Operations for Sensormatic where he was responsible for a $25 million capital budget and managed the design, construction and operations of new and existing facilities. He started his career with IBM, where he was the Senior Facilities Mechanical Engineer in Boca Raton and later worked as a Senior Systems Engineer specializing in data center and retail system construction design and implementation. Mr. Zimmerman earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and graduated from IBM’s Sales and Systems Engineering Program.

Anthony Altmann, Director

Mr. Altmann is a highly regarded innovator in energy and utility markets. He was formerly a senior power and gas executive with NextEra and Florida Power & Light Co. He has been instrumental in several energy related start-ups in cleantech and renewables. His background includes experience at the C-Level/CEO in scaling fast growth private and public companies. At NextEra he was Division President for a $1Bil + division for energy marketing and trading and was formerly CEO of a NASDAQ listed integrated natural gas company with over $350Mil in revenues and 750 employees. He was a pioneer in online power trading establishing one of the earliest wholesale power marketing companies. Currently, Mr. Altmann is building Canetic Advisors which focuses on new approaches to impact investing in cleantech. Canetic has developed ‘first of its kind’ CO2 reduction metrics and ‘Return on Carbon’ analytics aimed at portfolio managers, investors and institutions.  He has participated in over 25 M&A, private equity/JV transactions in various industries and sits on the board of several private companies and advises or invests in real estate and healthcare companies. Mr. Altmann has been active in the YPO/WPO organization for a number of years and is a graduate of Boston College and holds an MBA in Finance from Columbia University.

James Parker, Director

Mr. Parker is a highly respected strategic business consultant with over 25 years of corporate experience. His background includes significant engagements with CEO’s, senior executives and leadership teams at companies such as Ryder Systems, Sports Authority, and Mayo Clinic. As Chief Information Officer at Outsource International, his technology team was recognized by Fortune Magazine for Best Practices in Implementing New Technology. In his early career, he held Top Secret security clearance while working on projects such as NASA’s Mass Data Storage Facility to capture and analyze telemetry data from Skylab (early sensors and big data). He also worked on jet engine test and development systems (early internet of things) for the US military. He has a BS degree in Mathematics from Florida State University.
